Some Slovene Students’ comments on their visit to Prague

September 30th, 2008

We have brought many nice memories from Prague that were made even more beautiful by the wonderful Czechs and their culture. It was nice to see how they work and to work on different projects. We have met many new people; what I liked most about the visit to Prague was the fact that I made new friends.

In a sentence: an unforgettable experience.

Tina, 16

I met a lot of new people in Prague. They were all so friendly and we enjoyed doing our work together. We were working on three different projects from last three years: stereotypes, European films and environment. We tried to make a promotional campaign, based on our creativity. We learned different types of advertising and some tricks while promoting our idea.

The best thing during our visit in Czech Republic was walking through old city streets, sitting at coffee bar in the middle of the Prague and enjoying sunny days. It was fantastic and unforgettable.

COMENIUS PROJECT

September 26th, 2008

Italian´s team

Last May some people from our school ( convitto nazionale P.Diacono) took part in the final meeting of the Comenius project, which had been carried on by our school, a Slovenian one and a Czech one for three years.
During the first year of work, the students involved in the project had to deal with stereotypes, trying to understand the reason why some misunderstanding among different countries existed and trying to come to know each other in a deeper and better way.
On the second year, instead, the topic was environment. Each school had to do its best to develop an “environment-care” campaign among its students: people were taught they had to recycle in order to have a cleaner word, and they were also taught what recycle actually was and how to do it.
Finally, last year was the final year of the project. It was definitely the funniest one! In fact the activities consisted in watching movies which represented one of the countries involved in the project; each school chose one film which might have been regarded as its country’s best description.
Then, in May we had a big meeting to sum up what we had done in these three year. It was a fabulous experience! All the people involved in the Comenius project met in Prague: there were Italian students, Slovenian and –of course- Czech! We stayed there for four days (from the 8th of May to the 11th) and during that period of time we worked together, having fun as well!
When we first arrived we were a bit disoriented: Prague was really a big city compared to ours!!! However, we were warmly welcomed by the Czech students, who took care of us during our stay and make us feel at our ease.
After having got familiar with the place and the people, all the students (Italian , Slovenian and Czech) were divided in mixed groups of about ten people. Then, each group was given a topic, chosen among the ones we had discussed about the years before ( stereotypes, environment and films). First, each group had to discuss about the topic assigned, finding good ways to promote it, such as inventing slogans or creating something according to the topic he had. For example, we built posters, leaflets, and stuff such as bags and badges. Moreover, on the last day of our stay we had to do a piece of drama which had to represent the work of the group we belonged to. Thus, some of us pretended to be endangered animals, others told some jokes about stereotypes and others sung songs. It was really embarassing to act in front of all the students and teachers, but we had a lot of fun in the end!
We all were very sad when we left Prague, as we had to leave all the new friends we had met, but we’ll never forget this experience!
